Fionnuala & Michael are two kids from Ireland, who decided to do a South African elopement, just with the family. So I guess it’s not an elopement, but still!
Michael grew up in Gauteng, and the couple decided they wanted Fionnuala’s family to see where he’s from. Combining a wedding with a holiday makes for a week (or more) long celebration and is such a great idea!
When the week of the wedding finally came, Fionnuala & Michael were beyond excited. They had flown down from Ireland a week before. The family planning to do so three days before the actual date. But as the day came nearer, a huge storm moved into Dublin (storm Emma guys). Airplanes were grounded, people were forced to stay in their homes and hotels. The city was locked down.
We kept our fingers crossed that the storm would ease as the wedding came closer, but unfortunately it didn’t relent. Fionnuala’s family sadly couldn’t make it to the wedding, but thankfully three of her Irish friends had flown down the week before. They filled in for a bridesmaid, and walking her down the isle.
Most brides would surely break down if such a devastating thing happened to them on their special day, but not Fionnuala. She was the image of beauty and happiness as the day progressed, just grateful that she could finally say “I do” to her person. Thankfully her family could watch the wedding via livestream from their hotel rooms in Dublin, and they joined the couple a day thereafter in the Kruger National Park to start their wonderful holiday together.
